At Hutton Park, our residents love the chance to get involved with new things and we love coming up with new ideas.
Every Wednesday, we run Spanish lessons at the home, led by our Activities Co-ordinator, Carla, who is originally from Venezuela.
It’s said that Spanish is one of the most beautiful languages in the world and these classes offer a fantastic opportunity to learn the lingo first-hand in a relaxed and fun setting. As well as getting familiar with common words, phrases and numbers, residents also get to experience some authentic cuisine. From paella, patatas bravas and tortilla, there’s always delicious treats on offer to try.
Learning a new language at any age has lots of benefits but learning when you are a bit older in life is a fantastic way to keep the brain healthy and active. Some research shows it can also decrease the risk of developing dementia.
